Non-Toxic ITX Shot
People have had questions in regards to our use of ITX Shot. It is approved for use by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a non-toxic shot. At 10 g/cc density it is very close to lead. ITX is a iron and tungsten based pellet, yet significantly softer than other non-toxic pellets on the market. Like lead and bismuth, ITX does not register above 27.0 on the Rockwell “C” scale of hardness. It is approximately one-half the hardness of barrel steel. ITX is soft enough to crush with a pair of pliers and will not break up or fracture during the forces of ignition setback. The pellets stay intact all the way to the target and effectively deliver their energy.
ITX Shot provides lethal penetration due to pellet integrity and its cast pellet design. Each pellet is cast in order to be uniform in weight and dimensions in a near perfect spherical formation. This consistency translates into uniform and tighter down range patterns. We use ITX because it will save you money on your non-toxic/non-steel hunting loads while providing superior ballistic performance.
